I have a few confessions to make:
After my 37week doctor's appointment yesterday, which by the way I am still very healthy and very lucky that everything is going fine, and after another check of my cervix which is still tightly closed, I went home and did it. I actually googled "How to go into labor."
I know, I know, the baby will come when he's ready. I'm only 37 weeks and shouldn't be panicky, I should just sit back and be patient and thankful that I'm in this situation that I've wanted to be in for so long, but I can't help it. I'm ready to have this baby now. Just to save you from the curiosity of googling it, here is what it said:
Sex: Semen can soften the cervix and releases hormones called prostaglandins which can initiate contractions.
Nipple Stimulation: Can bring out the release of oxytocin which is a natural form of pitocin.
Walking: Can help the baby down the birth canal
Spicy Food: No studies on this one, just could help
Castor Oil: Creates waves and contractions in your GI tract (which I'm sure hurt like hell and are very uncomfortable) which surround your uterus and could stimulate the uterus to contract as well. Or you will just vomit and shit your pants.
Blue and Black Cohosh: Some herb thing that I'm not into.
My second confession: My strep culture came back positive. Yep, I'm one of the 20% of woman who are carriers of the strep bacteria. It's no big deal really, they will just administer meds through my IV when I go into labor. It's just weird to think that my vagina has a strep throat.
My third and last confession: I said "Yes" to my doctor after she asked me if I was still taking iron pills when the truth is I haven't taken one in a week because they make me way too constipated. So there you have it. The truth is I'm a constipated, lying, horrible mother who is trying to hurry her child out of a soft warm place into the cold hard world. Wish me luck!

I've also heard drinking raspberry tea can help stimulate labor. :)
Good luck!
Well at least most of the labor-helper-alongers (yes, I just typed that!) sound kind of fun! Sex, nipple stimulation, spicy food, and hell, walking is even ok! Hope something does the trick for you!
Oh, and yeah... the castor oil sounds kind of not worth it... ;)
And fresh pineapple.
Spicy food! Bring it on....the rest of that stuff? Ugh.
My doctor told me to only gain 2 pounds a month, and I told him I would try. I lied. I'm just TRYING not to eat a stranger on the street, that's all I can promise.
PS- You are so funny!
Definitely try the Raspberry Leaf Tea. I have 4 friends now who this has helped. Three days of hard Raspberry tea drinking and walking and they had delivered beautiful babies. Good luck!!
I promise you WILL eventually go into labor. Really. You will!!!
Walking and spicy food however helped here.
lol. I asked my doc about the semen and she said that was false. I asked a while ago because I was worried how/if it could affect my pregnancy. I too am kind of looking at the 36 week mark as, ok baby... you're done, please give me back my body! Also, I miss shopping horrendously and I was never a shopper. I’ve had strep throat, hopefully my vagina doesn’t have it too. Oh the constipation… I feel you on that one!
You are too funny. I heard garlic pizza can help too, I suppose that's right along with spicy food, but friend of mine was 2 weeks over due, she had done the deed and no such luck. So then they tried the garlic pizza and bam she was in labor that evening. Good luck, and cant wait to hear the news and see pictures of the little guy.
Haha you crack me up. I have heard from several people that rubbing primrose oil from a capsule on your hoohah does the trick. One of my best friends tried it and it worked! :)
I just came across your blog and was excited that you have PCOS and got pregnant! I just found out I have it a couple months ago. Lots of luck with labor and bringing your sweet baby into this world. You look great btw!!
Ooh, try Evening primrose oil & Red Raspberry leaf tea! Good luck!
I love your honesty! I have no tips for going into labour, but good luck! :)
Don't worry too much about your strep being positive. Mine was and everything went fine. I really believe that % needs to get raised...I know SO many people you are positive!
To help labor - walk and walk even more! I walked every night up until I went to the hospital and it really did help me dilated!
Love your honesty. :) I am so glad my OB doesn't have me on iron pills. I would die. :)
